I’ve stumbled across three young British singers in the last few months that I think are well worth a listen. It’s definitely on the “poppier” side of my listening tastes but sometimes I need something on the lighter side.
I’m not quite sure where or how I discovered Raleigh Ritchie but I liked him enough to put ‘Bloodsport’ in my iTunes wishlist. I’ve also discovered that Raleigh (Jacob Anderson) is an accomplished actor and you might recognize him as Grey Worm from Game of Thrones.
Here are a few of my favorite tracks off his album:
Finding Ella Eyre was a happy accident. Listening to a Raleigh Ritchie station on iTunes brought me to Ella Eyre. I also discovered I’ve heard her before on Bastille’s mix tape series; “Other People’s Heartache.” She’s got a fantastic voice. Check her out:
Last but not least, there’s Låpsley. I initially recommended her to my daughter but we’ve all become a fan. She’s in Portland 4/25 at the Doug Fir if you want to catch her live. She happened to be at KCRW on Thursday when Prince’s death was announced. She did a very moving tribute.
