Like Haley’s Comet, a politician you can be proud of and a newborn sleeping soundly through the night…a daytime lunch date with Jen is few and far between. We don’t get the chance very often so we try to make the most of it when we do.
I chose Oso Market and Bar for our lunch date today and it was exactly what we needed. Oso is also a bottle shop and has a very impressive selection of wines (and beers) along with local favorite foodie treats like Quin Candy, Bee Local Honey, Pinkleton’s Popcorn (ahem…legalized crack in a bag) and many, many more.
We started off with a nice glass of wine. Jen had the sparkling house special, “Oso Rojo,” a Cava, Dolin Rouge and Bitters. I had a very smooth glass of red from Piedmont. The menu is a nice selection of small plates, salads and sandwiches.
Jen insisted on getting the cookie for dessert. Ready for this? Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies with bacon-butter and caramel sauce. After the first bite, Jen’s comment was, “This is the kind of thing you order from room service after sex.” It was that good!
Needless to say, I look forward to my next visit. Oso is great place to have a glass of wine after work or have a lovely meal and watch the world go by.
